Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the Lord, who makes you holy. ~Leviticus 20:8

One of God's names in the Old Testament is Yaweh-M'Kadesh, the Lord who makes you holy. This name speaks to our desire to become more and more like Christ as his power works in and through us. "God planned that those he had chosen would become like his Son. In that way, Christ will be the first and most honored among many brothers and sisters." (Roman 8:29)
Becoming like Christ takes effort on our part in partnership with the Holy Spirit. We choose to spend time alone with him, soaking in his holiness. We choose to let him shine his spotlight on our lives, illuminating areas where he wants to change our habits. We choose to step out in faith, relying on the Spirit's power to enable us to do what we couldn't do on our own. Gradually, the new way becomes familiar, as natural as walking but walking in His ways.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: God gives us the privilege of becoming more and more like Christ everyday.
